Honoring your roots.
Reclaiming your essence.

Welcome!
Welcome!
Hi! I am Ana Ortiz-Mejias, the founder of Esencia Therapy, PLLC. At Esencia Therapy, I believe healing is not always about becoming someone new, but about returning to who you’ve always been. I create a therapeutic space for remembering, reclaiming, and reconnecting with your esencia. Essence, or esencia, refers to the core of who you are—your authentic self beneath expectations, roles, and survival patterns. It is not something that disappears, even in the presence of trauma or chronic stress, but something that can become buried over time. Therapy can be a space to gently reconnect with this essence, allowing you to move toward healing, self-trust, and a more aligned way of living.
Areas we can explore together
I have experience supporting clients who are navigating experiences such as:
Racing thoughts, worst-case scenarios looping, constant sense of being “on edge,” even when things seem okay on the outside.
Feeling heavy, numb, or disconnected—from yourself, from others, or from things that once brought meaning or joy.
Living in a state of hyper-alertness, feeling easily startled, emotionally overwhelmed, or shutting down as a way to cope.
Consistently feeling drained or like you’re running on empty but still expected to keep going.
Carrying the impact of racism, microaggressions, or cultural invalidation, code-switching to survive, or feeling pulled between identities or communities while longing for belonging.
Questioning who you are or who you’re allowed to be, especially if parts of you have had to stay hidden to belong, stay safe, or meet expectations.
Experiencing the world more intensely— sounds, emotions, energy, and subtle shifts that others may not notice. You might feel deeply affected by others’ moods, need more time to recharge, or wonder why things feel “too much”
If you relate to any of the above, please reach out via the contact form or email to schedule a FREE 15-minute consultation call!
